The major in Film and Media prepares students for careers in industries dependent on the moving image, including feature films, cable and broadcast television, digital media and advertising, industrial films, and the creation of visual content for new media delivery systems. Upon graduating from the Film and Media BS program, students will be able to:

  1. Develop complex argumentative strategies for long-form documentary films.
  2. Write scholarly essays on films, filmmakers, or industry practices that employ important theoretical concepts of Film and Media studies.
  3. Speak with informed confidence about the cinema history and cinema culture of at least one country or region in addition to the U.S.
  4. Create long-form screenplays that conform to industry standards for format and story structure.
  5. Apply special expertise in sound design, post-production digital techniques, costuming, performance, etc. to any film project.
  6. Produce 10-30 minute films of professional quality in various genres.
