This course introduces the art histories of global cultures, 1450-1750. Students think critically about the impact of cultural exchanges and colonization on art, religion, politics, and societal values. Diverse cultural definitions of art and artists are explored, with focus on perspectives from Eurasia, Africa, the Americas, and the Pacific Islands. (G7: Humanities; G9: Other World Civilizations).
