Introducing South Korean cinema from the late-1950s to the present, the course explores New Korean Cinema, domestic and global film industries, auteurs, censorship, quota systems, commercial, independent, and blockbusters. Focus will be on the formal and stylistic aspects of films in terms of their historical, aesthetic, transnational, and socio-cultural contexts.
