The Accessories Design major offers design, technical, and business skills to prepare students for careers in design, product development, merchandising, and entrepreneurship. Curriculum below is for the entering class of Fall 2018.

* Liberal Arts: 18 credits
- Liberal Arts elective: 6 credits. Select Liberal Arts courses (for which prerequisites have been met) from the following subject areas: CH (Chinese), EN (English), FI (Film and Media) - any FI course other than FI 261, 361, 362, 461, and FI 462, FR (French), HA (History of Art), HE (Health Education) HE 201, or 301, IT (Italian), JA (Japanese), MU (Music) MU 202, 203, or 391, HI (History), MA (Math), LA (Liberal Arts), MC (Modern Languages and Cultures), PE (Physical Education and Dance) PE 215, 216, 217, PL (Philosophy), SC (Science), SP (Spanish), and SS (Social Sciences). - Foreign Language: 6 credits. Two semesters of the same foreign language, one of which must meet General Education Foreign Language requirement (G8). See the list of courses available in Foreign Languages

CHOICE of any elective courses in Art and Design (for which prerequisites have been met) totaling 6 credits.
NOTE: Students accepted into the BFA program who have not received an AAS in Accessories Design must complete LD 133, LD 134, LD 143, and LD 144 prior to semester 5.
If you are a high school student
You may not apply directly to the bachelor's degree program. High school students should apply to FIT's two-year Associate in Applied Science (AAS) program in Accessories Design and after completing that degree apply to the two-year bachelor's program.
Applicants to this program are expected to provide a competitive portfolio.
If you have an AAS from FIT
You may apply to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program.
Graduates of any FIT Art and Design AAS program are eligible to apply to the Accessories Design BFA program. However, graduates of any Art and Design AAS program other than Accessories Design must complete LD 133 (Footwear Design/Construction 1) and LD 143 (Handbag Design/Construction 1) before beginning the BFA program.
If you have credits or a degree from another college
You may apply to the two-year Accessories Design BFA program as a transfer student if you meet one of the following criteria by the time you enroll at FIT:
- you will have an associates or bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a program that is equivalent to the FIT Accessories Design AAS program.
- you will have earned at least 60 credits toward a bachelor's degree in an equivalent program at an accredited college.
A college program is equivalent if it contains the same major area and liberal arts distribution as the FIT Accessories Design AAS program. Applicants from college programs that are not equivalent must apply to the Accessories Design AAS program. Most transfer students are eligible for the one-year AAS program.
You must also complete LD 133 (Footwear Design/Construction 1) and LD 143 (Handbag Design/Construction 1) before beginning the BFA program, and LD 134 (Footwear Design/Construction 2) and LD 144 (Handbag Design/Construction 2) before the start of the seventh semester of the BFA program.
Applicants to this program are expected to provide a competitive portfolio. Please note that FIT AAS students receive priority admissions consideration.
