Fashion Styling Minor

The Fashion Styling minor provides a cross-disciplinary learning experience for students to explore career opportunities and skills needed for fashion stylists. Students will develop an understanding of different styling genres including editorial, advertising, runway, celebrity, off figure, still life and prop. Throughout course offerings students will be exposed to the hands-on aspects of styling as well as knowledge of multi and socio-cultural fashion, fashion trends, art and social history as it relates to the business of fashion styling. Upon completion of the Fashion Styling minor, students will be able to:

1. Create visual content for fashion styling genres such as editorial, advertising, celebrity, off figure, product and still life.
2. Apply industry resources such as art history, social history, knowledge of diverse cultures, and fashion trends to the development of fashion styling activities including portfolio building, self-branding, or trend forecasting.
3. Utilize interdisciplinary skills in fashion styling such as photography, product customization, prop building, concepting, sourcing and CAD
4. Implement trends using socio-cultural research for fashion styling clients.
