MC 306 — Africa: Contemporary Voices in Francophone Culture

This course explores cultural contributions to an Africa rising in the Francophone region. Students examine the shift from center-periphery models to Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o’s globalectics,” analyzing how film, literature, music, fashion, pop culture, and visual arts generate knowledge about Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and their diasporas.
