HA 303 — Tradition and Innovation in Asian Art and Design

3 credits; 3 lecture hours

Probes the historical development and modern transformation of Asian art and design. Students in this study-abroad course visit historical monuments, major museums of Asian art, and artists' studios in a particular city. Focuses on first-hand study of art works and historical monuments, and engages with contemporary practitioners of art, design, and traditional techniques. (G6: The Arts; G7: Humanities; G9: Other World Civilizations).
