HA 116 — Indigenous Art of North America

(Formerly HA 216). A study of the Indigenous art of North America--from Alaska to the border of Mexico, from prehistoric times to the present. Students study land art, architecture, carving, painting, pottery, and textiles in the context of their making and meaning. The ongoing traumatic impact of colonization on Indigenous people and their art will be acknowledged and discussed. (G7: Humanities; G9: Other World Civilizations).
