This class focuses on two celebrated directors: Hong Kong-based Wong Kar-wai and Taiwan-based Tsai Ming-liang. By comparing their films in their regional, historical, and political contexts, we consider what makes each filmmaker unique and what their films can show us about the shape of cinema (and the world) to come.
