EN 236 — Major Writers of the Western World

3 credits; 3 lecture hours

This course is a study of major Western literary works emphasizing, but not limited to, the ancient Greek and Roman world, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Modern to 20th Century Periods. Students will examine major genres of storytelling in the Western tradition, among them the epic, the tale (myth, romance, and fable), drama, poetry, non-fiction, and the evolution of the novel.
Prerequisite(s): EN 131 or equivalent.
